Swine Flu Symptoms
According to the CDC, like seasonal flu, symptoms of swine flu infections can include:
* fever, which is usually high, but unlike seasonal flu, is sometimes absent
* cough
* runny nose or stuffy nose
* sore throat
* body aches
* headache
* chills
* fatigue or tiredness, which can be extreme
* diarrhea and vomiting, sometimes, but more commonly seen than with seasonal flu
um yeah, you need to head to the emergency room
in the meantime eat plenty of citrus
drink lots and lots of water
take a fever reducer like motrin or advil
and put vicks under/around your mouth, nose, chest and back
Why would he give you Amoxicillin for flu? That doesn't make any sense -- Amoxicillin's an antibiotic, and flu is viral...it would have zero effect. Unless you also have a bacterial infection (e.g. strep throat) in which case, mang, that sucks.
Also, yeah, like other people have suggested, you'll want to get that fever below 104...I find that acetaminophen (Tylenol) works really well for me.
Yeah i just got a text saying that there was a swine flu outbreak at EDC and I was like omfg. WTF. cuz in my group after EDC everyone was coughing and sick and runny nose. And just yesterday i randomly got hot and threw up. =/ And i've just been feeling like shit too.
FML.
There is at least one other person who has confirmed swine flu after EDC. If you (meaning anyone other than the thread poster) went and now have flu-like symptoms, there's a pretty good chance you have the h1n1 virus. But honestly it doesn't even mean much unless you have a preexisting condition. I would be really surprised if anyone that got it at EDC dies.
how can you confirm swine flu? if you had it you'd be quarantined right about now in a hospital with no communication to anyone. unless a doctor announced it to the media and said it was directly related to EDC

I got sick too, but its definitely not the swine flu.
Just...sore throat, cough, congestion and head ache.
My tonsils were so swollen the other day, they're not as bad since I started taking antibiotics.

Confirmed swine flu = the doctor tells you that you have it, or you did have it, based on test results or obvious symptoms that are more severe than the normal flu. I don't know if it's the same in the US, but over here in England they have given up on trying to contain it and are instead working on getting treatment ready. So people here aren't being quarantined anymore. At least that's what it said on the news, not sure if it applies to the entire of England
They're not quarantining people in the US for swine flu, either -- it's pretty much become a non-issue. The only reason they were concerned about it initially is because of similarities to Spanish flu, since a significant percentage of the early mortalities were young people. Spanish flu was novel in that the demographic most at risk were the young and healthy, due to an autoimmune reaction to the flu which was magnified by the strength of one's immune system. H1N1, in its current form, doesn't provoke this autoimmune reaction. I really think this whole debacle tells us more about people's fear of disease and blind trust of anecdotal evidence and precocious statistics than it tells us about how to actually deal with flu (which, in most places, is a yearly occurrence).
I hope someone actually reads and understands what I'm saying, because I've typed it many, many times. o_o
