Default a little phat pants help?

heylo,

so i'm going to the garment district in downtown LA tomorrow to pick up some materials to make phat pants. trouble is, i have *zero* idea what i'm looking for...i'd appreciate any and all recommendations about fabric type, places to get it, etc.

also, anyone happen to know where you can get reflective tape in the LA area? i'm willing to drive distances to find some.

thanks!

I know Jo-ann's usually has a slew of bolts of fabric available of all kinds-- faux fur, fleece, etc., but that's all I know. As for reflective tape, maybe a hardware store like Home Depot may have it for construction purposes.

Jo-Anns is really good for finding fabric.
For type of fabric, I'd say find something that feels comfortable to you that won't be too hot or itchy.
As for reflective tape, I have no clue... I've been wondering that too.

i'll probably end up checking out Jo-Anns, but i'm intending to save a little money by buying some wholesale fabric...if you've been to the garment district in downtown LA, you'll know what i mean.

going to a hardware store's a great idea; hopefully they'll have more than silver though o_o

thanks for the input i'll keep you all posted on how they turn out

Thanks everyone in this thread; we made two pairs and they came out pretty well, I think. My girlfriend had a little trouble with the crotch, since she cut them a little tight around the hips, but it all evened out more or less...

I ended up using what little reflective tape I could find -- oddly, every hardware store I went to said that they used to carry it, but didn't anymore. @_@ I ended up with only marginally reflective stuff and aluminum duct tape, which didn't hold too well. Anyway, in the future, I'm just going to order the ultra-reflective stuff online well in advance.

I'll let you all know if we attempt it again, and once again thanks for all the advice.
