edm is pretty much a genre area that i dont know a whole lot about. i like going to raves but i havent really heard anything that catches my ear.
i mean i do know a bit (i come from a hardcore/metal/etc background, which is what i listen to the majority of the time) but not edm.
stuff i have heard i like are things like
kraftwerk (ive only really heard autobahn, but i dig its minimalism)
the chemical brothers (first three records)
the prodigy (fat of the land)
aphex twin
autechre
squarepusher
slower stuff like
boards of canada (idk if this counts)
trip hop (massive attack, portishead, tricky)
dubstep such as burial, kode 9, and flying lotus.
other than that, i dont know a whole lot about dnb or acid house(which i do like) etc..
the only thing that i sort of caught on to is deadmau5
for DnB/jungle- Aphrodite, AK1200, Dara, Dieselboy, LTJ Bukem w/ MC conrad
acid house and other old skool stuff- Kevin Saunderson, Juan Atkins, Derrick May, Josh Wink, Frankie Bones, Adam X, Heather Heart.

Alice: The Mad Hatter? Oh, no no no.
Cheshire Cat: Or, you could ask the March Hare, in that direction.
Alice: Oh, thank you. I think I'll see him.
Cheshire Cat: Of course, he's mad, too.
Alice: But I don't want to go among mad people.

ak1200 dara and dieselboy are all great dj's/producers. also check into Andy C (with or without MC GQ), he is the GOD of drum and bass. ive seen all 4 of them live at least once but some other good jungle/dnb is pendulum shy fx, zero t, atlantic connection (its kinda hiphop and dnb mixed together its phat as shit), danny byrd to name a few.
if you are into dnb youll probably get a kick out of dubstep also.
YouTube - Shane Kenton Out Of The Massives is a song i produced (my first dubstep track) but you need to check out distance, benga, kode-9, rusko, and skream. download the Dubstep Allstar's mixes they should get you on the right track.
look above im already into dubstep! kode9, burial, flying lotus, hyperdub records, etc rule!
im still waiting for somebody to roll out a bug track at a rave. i know it would be creepy as fuck, but it would be awesome!
i was like that for a long time but once i started hearing what they call "full-on" psy which like i said is basically hard psy trance, i began to like it more, it's more intense, less corny and spacey like some psy, it also has better progresssion usually.
